Are AF Pilots guilty of flying 'high-er' than authorized or getting 'wrecking balled' for acting like Miley Cyrus?

Officials at the Texas base reportedly concluded the pilots were distributing drugs based only on the text messages, which refer to ecstasy by its street name, Molly, and include the Miley Cyrus lyrics: “We like to party/ Dancing with Molly/ Doing whatever we want.”
The pilots purportedly passed drug tests and said the lyrics are about carousing, chasing women and trying to sustain the memory of a lost weekend in Las Vegas. The Air Force has issued a statement confirming the IG inquiry and saying the pilots’ cases will be reviewed based on the findings.
“Commanders are expected to hold members accountable for their actions, while ensuring due process and equitable treatment are appropriately applied in every case,” the statement reads in part.

It is deeply disturbing to me that fighter pilots flying multimillion dollar aircraft are any kind of fans of Miley Cyrus.*

Having thought about this a little more, I wonder what business the Air Force has reading their text messages. Sounds to me that having failed in finding proof of their initial investigation, they took something small and made a big deal out of it.

I would have never made it in the Air Force --well, "today's" Air Force anyway. Cripes, I got exhausted with signing the "I wasn't at Tailhook" forms. Yes, these forms existed in the early 90's. "Enduring due process" = Surviving a General Officers knee-jerk.

I think the whole situation is an outstanding example of Air Force logic and priorities. Almost makes me afraid to talk about some of my favorite video games or movies with friends. The AF might think I am some kind of crazy Australian waste land survivor with an addiction to building crazy muscle cars from scavenged scrap that I stole from even crazier waste land survivors.

On a side note, I highly recommend the new Mad Max game and movie, they're both great. Just don't let your leadership know you play them or you might be investigated like these pilots who are so obviously involved in drug trade because of their interest in a Miley Cyrus song.

Sir, by now you should have learned that the military will get rid of or try to get rid of anyone for any kind of perceived misconduct. Hell, if one sneezes in the CS chamber they might face disciplinary actions.

Yes, Pilots had made a reference about Molly, right away the Air Force is saying you are guilty until proven innocent about using drugs. Sad

It is sad to see, but I have seen varying degrees of this sort of thing since I first enlisted in the early 90's. Initially I thought that the increased scrutiny on service members personal affairs was a by product of being in a PRP position. Once I got rid of the PRP stink, I noticed that nothing had really changed. Supervisors and commanders are given too much authority to delve into a members cell phone and personal email. What's next? Conversations with spouses/girlfriends? Utterings at the bar after having a beer? Good luck getting quality volunteers to support this service in the future.

News that texts sent to your friends from your personal cell phone could be used to NJP you and/or kick you out is going to spread quickly.

I'm glad that I am retired!!! This painful exercise will only ensure that servicemembers have a plan to "Tom Brady" their phones/computers if they are called into their commanders office.
