LTC Private RallyPoint Member 80918 <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>So now we have the new AR 670-1 out and there is a lot of anger over the changes.  In the meantime, there have been a string of images and posts on social media about soldiers taking pictures of themselves licking signs, disrespecting funerals, and flipping off cameras with their graduating class.  Does anything think there is a correlation here?  If 670-1 makes us all look "professional", are they going to tighten up the leaders on making soldiers start ACTING more "professional?"  Or could it be that those who DON'T agree with the new 670-1 are actually the ones who are LESS likely to misbehave?  Are we judging books by their covers and ignoring what's inside? I think it is a good possibility that this is the latter.  The ones being more vocal aren't misbehaving and are upset that they are being tightened up on while the ones misbehaving are just going to misbehave anyway, so they don't really care as much. It seems like the assumption is that if a Soldier 'looks' professional then that means that they 'act' professional. However, when I first joined the Army I was given a lesson on what the word 'assume' make out of 'u' and 'me.' This also makes a second assumption that Soldiers that cannot/will not conform to the new AR 670-1 are not worth retaining in the service.
