Approved LOD's what good are they when given to a Reservist?

What good is an Approved Line of Duty and Da Form 199 for a Reservist if the VA will not except it. The VA Reps only look for the words ACTIVE DUTY, anything else is ignored and not seen as Service Connected.

I just had to ask.

I will try to answer your question more accurately (SSG Locke just wanted the 100 points for answering first...lol). A few questions for you.

1. If you are retired, then what good is an LOD from the Reserves will do you?
2. If from another soldier then are you asking from there point of view?
3. The LOD (Line-of-Duty) is only used as you may be aware if a Reserve/NG member is injured during the weekend duty, as then they can go to the nearest facility for further treatment if warranted.
4. So please give me a little more background and I can nail down a definitive answer for you.

Your unit is doing it wrong. Other than the VA being the headache it is today an LOD works at all medical facilities if filled out the proper. Also if deemed that you will be out of work you can fill out the forms for ICAP pay to cover medical bills and workmans comp.

Here is an example though my concern is for all who receive an LOD. I was retired after injuring my hand tho this was not the only reason. I was given an Approved LOD for the initial issue of my injury thought to be only a sprained finger only to find that it was a major injury requiring major Surgery by the VA hand surgeon. I asked what am I supposed to do with the LOD and was told to take it to VA to file a claim. I filed a claim only to be Rejected by the VA as non service connected because it did not happen on ACTIVE DUTY. It did not matter that I was on duty/ in uniform when it happened. Now after surgery I no long have full use of my dominate hand. The Surgeon stated I would be lucky to get back 50% which has left me unemployed because I do not have full use of both hands. The VA and it's VSO's do not want to touch the claim because I was not on ACTIVE DUTY at the time of injury. So I asked what good does it to to give a Soldier an LOD if the VA is only going to reject it. Hope this helps.

OK so I have all this info on LODs and INCAP but do not know how to load it on the system. Any ideas on how I can get this info out to everyone that would like a copy?

You may qualify for health care coverage for the injury and/or vocational rehabilitation.

I have had to put paper work in myself because the reps here said there is no way I could get it. It was for my Mom it was A&A. She got that and a pension from the VA.
