I will never forget the dail up noise. Why did it have to be so loud? Why would even have it? It shouldn't have been muted. It made going on AOL an event everyone knew about.

The fact that they never had a local number for our area, so the long distance fees were more expensive than paying for internet through a local provider. I do remember using Netscape Navigator, and dialing up though. I used to change the number in the dialer to our home number, or a friend's number to mess with my mom.
