Anyone with teaching contacts in California?

I've submitted my paperwork for retirement and am looking to transition into teaching in Northern California. I already have a PhD in Biochemistry & Cell Biology so I'm hoping to teach college eventually, but I'm looking at starting at the highschool level because it appears to be easier to find a position initially.

What I'm trying to figure out:

1) What schools in Northern California (Redding/Shasta area) are accredited for teaching certification?
2) What courses can I take while still here in Maryland/DC over the next 6 months to a year and then transfer over to California to finish my teaching degree there?

I'm already talking with Troops-to-Teachers but I've not gotten any specific answers. Looking from someone with teacher contacts in CA to help with info.

MAJ Private RallyPoint Member Just a thought - have you looked at the Community College as a possible entry point for teaching? I suspect, based on what I saw some years ago, that a PhD would be welcomed.
