Anyone use alumni support or connections to find a job after retiring?

I have recently retired from the NC National Guard and as a Mil Tech (Gov't Employee) for the NC National Guard also. I am using all resources available to me, these include alumni support (University, Fraternity and Civic Organizations), past vendors I worked with, and am utilizing social media very heavily. When I first retired I had the mindset that I would not ask friends or alumni for help and would do it myself. This was quite a wrong thought process, I was getting no where fast. I found out once I started asking for help and assistance I was amazed at how many people wanted to help me. My advice is to use every resource available to you.
