Anyone know what this rank is?

I was at work today and this soldier walked past me his rank on his chest was three perfectly horizontal bars. Not chevrons , just straight bars. I was busy and couldn't ask him about it, but none of my colleagues knew either and it's not an rotc rank. Any ideas?

SPC James Laney,

What you saw is rank from the United States Military Academy, West Point. Three horizontal bars represents that he is a Cadet Lieutenant (meaning he is going into his senior year) and probably a platoon leader for the underclassman. He is more than likely completing Cadet Troop Leader Training (CTLT) at your post.

That would be one of the military academy ranks (Not USNA). Most likely USMA or USAFA.
