State Guard

The Tennessee State Guard, which is the all-volunteer arm of the Tennessee Military Department, is headquartered in Nashville and consists of approximately 250personnel,It is authorized by Tennessee Code Annotated 58-1-401.

My one of my co-workers was in the state defense force. He enjoyed it, but had to leave it because he wasn't authorized military leave time for it. Because of the hours that we work he wasn't able to attend drills and training.

It varies from state to state- they normally pick up mission for the NG at the state level when that unit is deployed overseas. Google it for your state
