I don't have much experience with configuring OpenGL and I've never used Ubuntu but I know not every DE supports compiz. Have you tried downloading compizfrom the software center?

SN Private RallyPoint Member SGT Private RallyPoint Member I am going to assume that you are using the default Unity Desktop Environment. To install Compiz on your system, open the terminal and type the following (You can cut and paste the commands from here into the terminal. Highlight them here, and use ctrl+C to copy them and Ctrl+Shift+V to paste them into the terminal):

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install compiz-plugins compiz-plugins-default compiz-plugins-extra compiz-plugins-main compiz-plugins-main-default
