Anyone ever done or is doing AC/RC assignment at Fort Dix? I’ll be reporting within 3 months. How’s the assignment?

Spent almost twenty years RC at Dix with 2 years AD at the EOC what do you want to know?

Did my basic and followup active duty tour there in the early '70's. I'm sure everything has changed except for Wrightstown, NJ.
It used to be considered the boonies. Seaside Heights (beach) was drivable.

I just completed ILE phasees 1 and 3 at Fort Dix, June 2016 and June 2017 respectively.

Nice enough PX/Commissary facilities, but you really need to drive a bit to enjoy any fine dining.

It wasn't bad, which is why I scheduled phase 3 at the same place as phase 1, with the other choice being Fort McCoy.

My Battalion HQ was on Lakehurst during my recruiting duty and Fort Dix was where our closest MEPS was located. I went there on a bi-weekly basis, it was a long drive with not much around. It was a ghost town outside the gate I used. What are you going to be doing there as an 11B?

Depends on your assignment. I was there as an instructor many moons ago which consisted of long hours and many weekends. It's what you make of it. Philly and NYC are about 75+ miles each way so not too bad. Good luck on your assignment.

I am there now. It is no longer AC/RC but pretty much the same mission. Come ready to travel. We do very little of or mission on Fort Dix but you will have plenty of time at home.
