Going down is the hardest part. Altitude got to me a bit. Dinner at the Station 8 was good, not so much coming up.
Definitely true on the climbing it twice being a fool. Guess I'll be a fool next summer. Yes, being covered with a lot of lava, going down was very tiring but much faster than climbing up. We climbed as far as we could during the night with a flashlight focused ahead then the last person climbed up while someone else held their flashlight, lighting a path. We were tired on the train going back home. Fuji while on my first deployment. I had much better things to do (as I thought then) and my priorities were Tokyo - Roppongi!
Subsequent deployments, the mountain was not open for climbing, it was the off season.
Thus to right the wrongs the wife and I are planning a trip there in couple years time once both of us are done with school and after I get a job. Start early. Coming down in the dark is a not good thing. I feel no need to do it again.
