In the states you have JBLM Washington, fort bliss Texas, fort Carson Colorado, fort Riley Kansas, fort hood tx, fort Campbell Kentucky, fort Bragg North Carolina, fort drum New York, hunter army airfield near savannah Georgia, and I believe that’s about it.Response by SFC Private RallyPoint Member made Jan 1 at 2018 5:49 AM2018-01-01T05:49:20-05:002018-01-01T05:49:20-05:00SFC Private RallyPoint Member3215649<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Deployments are 9 months and are 18-24 months stateside, depending on where the deploying unit lands on the chart.Response by SFC Private RallyPoint Member made Jan 1 at 2018 5:52 AM2018-01-01T05:52:03-05:002018-01-01T05:52:03-05:00SGT Private RallyPoint Member3217747<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I’m currently at JBLM, WA it’s a pretty good state if you look away from the constant rain. I renecently just returned from deployment (Sept 17) and we’re scheduled to return to Iraq in 19’. But then again JBLM is a rapid deployment duty station from what I’m told. Deployments ( and rotations) depend on the station just like any other unit, 9 months long and every other year or so. Drum has gone every other year where as my unit hasn’t been in three years and we’re now on a rotation in Europe. <br />The daily, my favorite question. There are three types of Romeos, maintenance company, line company and ASB. In a line company you are directly responsible for the every day schedule maintenance of the bird, each crew cheif generally has their own to maintain but everyone kind of rotates. Maintenance company is there for the big unschedule stuff that happens, engine replacements, lower hour phases and the like. ASB if for major phases (500 hour) this is when the entire bird gets taken apart and put back together. For line companies the hours are long and frustrated working with PC, QC and lack of parts but personally I prefer it over anything else because I have my bird. I launch it, recover it, know it’s entire scheduled maintenance timeline and over time you learn the birds sweet spots and bad habits. It’s hard work but that feeling you get when you clear the engines and the pilots spin those blades directly over your head and you launch them, it’s one of a kind.Response by SGT(P) Jazmin Johnson made Jan 7 at 2018 7:35 AM2018-01-07T07:35:07-05:002018-01-07T07:35:07-05:00SGT Private RallyPoint Member3237708<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>The question here is where do you want to go? Fort Bliss, Fort Riley, Fort Campbell, Fort Drum, Savanna, Korea, Alaska...? What do you wish to accomplish in the aviation world? As for promotion points go, I have seen points drop several times. Working on helicopters can be rewarding. There is nothing like taking an Apache apart to bare bones and putting it all back together again during a 500 hour phase inspection and then see it fly afterward knowing your played a part in making sure it was safe to fly. There are many units now that do those major maintenance events on their own, especially when they are lacking the ASB support, such as during deployments or other overseas rotations. If I were you, I would look into the units that interest you, then see where those units have been going most recently. You can then set your assignment preferences in ASK on AKO (no guarantee you get them but they do consider the options, has worked for me over the last 9 years).Response by SGT Private RallyPoint Member made Jan 8 at 2018 11:42 AM2018-01-08T11:42:47-05:002018-01-08T11:42:47-05:00SPC Jonathan Hammond3270628<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>germany, south korea, ft.
