Trust me, read this, I think you'll realize why I suggest it, promise...I found this, amongst all military autobiographies I've ever read, among the very best of the modern ones I'd ever seen, I know the one by Gen Schwarzkopf is clearly as good, however, I just found the description day to day realism of how he actually did what he did, and how he actually sucveeded, and how he accomplished all he did, a singularly compelling account, quite literally unlike anythungnelse I'd ever read, honest....

What is your favorite book for leadership philosophy development? | RallyPoint

I am trying to find more good books to read the focus on general leadership philosophies and development. So far I have read Sun Tzu's Art of War, and a few others, and really enjoyed some of the philosophies and strategies/ seeing how they correlate with modern society. It amazes me how even through so many centuries, there are philosophies of leadership that are still prevalent and relevant today

Extreme Ownership How U.S. Navy Seals Lead and Win was a pretty good one; also 7 Habits of Highly Effective People is always a good one to go back to time and time again; or maybe The Effective Executive by Peter Drucker.

This is not about military leadership, or leadership in general. It is about taking care of the mission and men - indirectly. Anyone that wants to be a good leader needs to understand the basics of getting things done and using your actions to inspire, rather than force others to follow. It should be added to reading list of anyone that is serious about being successful in life, by working smarter. There are better books that apply directly to military, but this is well worth the time. If you read it you may think of instances where his principles could have made things easier. It depends on which portion you want to focus on, there is no one book on improving leadership. A good start would be John Maxwell, or "How to win friends and influence people"; there are also: "Extreme Ownership" and "The way of the seal" if you want a military perspective. I have heard from some good leaders that relationship books might also help, depending on your weak areas. A mentor could tell you more.
