Fountain is a nice area with plenty of houses.

You are better off buying a home than renting. From my experience the rent was to high, so I bought and saved money. Fountain has nice homes and they aren't too pricey.

Bought a house in Falcon, longer commute, but 1/2 the price. I wanted a yard and couldnt find a decent house for rent or sale with a yard for the children. Kids are playing in the streets most areas. Own a house at the Rock Island Arsenal as well. I have renters there. They have almost paid the mortgage off.

How long have you been in the Army?, How long do you plan on staying in the Army?, The Colorado Springs Housing market is not for those to buy right now. It is a market for sellers. I was stationed there for 5 years and when I got there it was a buyers market. I bought a brand new house for 209,000. That same house 8 years later sold for 243,000. Sellers market I love Colorado and Ft Carson, I have a lot of great friends there, but I will not go back and buy house right now and that is where I intend on retiring.

I lived close to Peterson AFB and the Baseball stadium and absolutely loved it...I was caught off guard with the fireworks after every Friday home game but the area is real nice. If I moved back that's where I would want to be or Falcon. The drive is longer but I think it's worth it.

Buying is the way to go. If you are going to be at FCCO for at least another 2yrs. Otherwise, renting might be the route to take. I can recommend you to Susan Koutantos, She is a Realtor, took great care of me and my family looking for a place to rent and later looking for a place to buy.
