Any other men that sew in here?

I don't mean to mend your uniform. I just recently got into sewing garments I find it relaxing and therapeutic. When I go to joanns I go with my wife and have her go to the cutting counter. One time she said in a loud voice across the store you want 2 yard right. I acted like I did not know here. I don't know why I feel like a girl sewing. But I know there a men that do it. Right now I am working on a dress shirt and finished up a dress and pair of pants for my daughter.

Anything that works as therapy for you is worth doing.

There is nothing wrong with a man sewing. My Father and Mother both taught me how to sew. my Dad taught me pattern use whereas my grandmother taught me how to make my own patterns. My Mother taught me how to mix patterns. Seeing isn't "women's work", it's only something women have mostly done. If it's relaxing for you then why does it matter? Not many in today's society have this very important life skill. Be proud you do.

I grew up with a kid (he was more my sister's age).... he sews. In fact, if you watch the Today Show, you have seen his sewing....he has done their Halloween Costumes (for the entire crew) for many years now. He is very successful from what I can tell and has moved from Rural Iowa to NYC. I don't sew....have tried....it isn't pretty.

I agree, sewing is therapeutic! Perhaps you could use the word "taylor" since you are a man. : ) Great job on the dress!
