Any insights on 70B? And can anyone explain the process to get the MOS for the Army National Guard?

I recently became a SMP Cadet, and I am extremely interested in 70B after commissioning. I was hoping to gain some valuable insights from anyone regarding this MOS and the process to get there for the ANG. Your guidance would be greatly appreciated.

I was recently selected to direct commission and was told to start thinking about where I wanted to PCS. I want to know where are some typical duty locations and assignments for a 70B so I can realistically build my wish list.

You may want to rethink that AOC of 70B. Last I checked, it was an overstrength AOC. Like, 800% overstrength. Even if it isn't that high anymore...there are still a good amount of them in the Reserve and Guard. Promotions to CPT and higher are extremely competitive. I personally know a few 70Bs that were passed over for promotion twice and were discharged from Service.

AMEDD is a weird animal and is completely separate from the Basic branches. I direct commissioned as a 70B and our entire class was told at BOLC (in 2019) that it was overstrength and we should find a new branch. If Health Services Admin interests you, there are certainly billets, but NG billets will be very few. You will also need to choose another AOC after CPT, which further reduces opportunities.

In the Guard it's somewhat straightforward. You find a unit with a slot for a medservice officer and get a letter of acceptance from their commander.
You will likely need to change branch in the future to advance but that's not uncommon in the reserve component.
