Anonymous: Who's side are they really on?

Anonymous, the hacktivist group that has shown time and again that their abilities to obtain information in nearly unrivaled have come out against government organizations, hate groups such as the Westboro Baptist Church, and corporations such as PayPal, MasterCard, and Sony.

They have also come to the aid of individuals in the past such as the victim of the Steubenville High School rape case.

While we will likely never determine who these people actually are, with the increase in cyber security throughout multiple countries, will they ultimately be friend, foe, or someone that constantly gets in the way to create issues?

Where they actually fall in the "intelligence" community remains to be seen. My question is this, how often are they right in their claims? That is where the concern should be. If they can gather information without being caught doing anything illegal then another question comes to mind, how are they getting away with this activity. Hacking by definition in today's world is illegal, are they on par with "wikileaks? Are they amassing information for personal gain? Shouldn't we be concerned with what they are planning to do with the information they gather?

So called "Cyber-Terrorists" and "Hackers" have been around ever since the first computer was connected to a phone line. These people of Anonymous believe in the Freedom of Information which, for the most part, I cannot blame them for. If there is one thing I truly cannot stand, it is not knowing something. Ironic considering my job, n'est ca pas?

However, the counterpoint to the whole thing is the Spider-Man conundrum; "With great power comes great responsibility."
