ANONYMITY and CREDIBILITY

Personally, I find it irritating (don't worry, I'll get over it) when 'members' hide behind anonymity and take part in conversations. Whether 'members' do not post a profile picture or use undercover names or initials, I disregard anything they may have to add.

Although it's their 'right' to hide behind anonymity while taking part in conversations, what are your feelings about engaging someone playing 'cloak and dagger' games in a conversation? Do they earn credibility with you?
If anyone is scared to post their own posts, send them to me and I'll post them for you. Shoot I'll even change my name to anonymous if you want.

However I do have to point out the irony in your suggestion. Let me simplify.
"I want to stop anonymous folks from answering questions"
AND
"I would like to be able to post questions anonymously"
I have a feeling of what you would like to do with cake too. ;-)
Just an observation.

Too funny SSG Burns, but you misspelled hypocrisy. It doesn't start with an "i".

No, I think I came across wrong and it is being viewed as one suggestion whereas it is two. I noticed over a handful of threads people complaining about how anonymous people are responding with a lack of respect and so forth. In an essence hiding behind the anonymity of their posts.

On a separate suggestion an option for those seeking to ask questions where they need advice about something that may be going on in their unit in an anonymous manner might help make light of the situation.

I'm with you though, if someone felt they needed to ask something anonymously, I too would take the same route if need be. That is exactly what happens in another forum I am in.

I don't know if that clarified it or made it more confusing. I do see how it appeared contradictory though.

To me it seems like they are not proud of their beliefs or not confident in what they are saying. Being able to hind behind anonymity they can basically say whatever they want to whoever they want and think it's 'OK' to say whatever they want. Own what you say. Don't be ashamed of what your saying. Speak with confidence and pride for what you believe in.

MSG Quick,

I'm right there with you on this topic. It absolutely irritates me and I find that some of these personnel use it to get rude and make smart-a comments to others. It gives them a false sense of bravado. They stop being tactful and I know they're aware of this. To me it tells me they don't care.
