I am not the smartest lightbulb in the knife drawer, but this doesnt sound good. China is now the worlds economic superpower.

Oh China. I can elaborate on so many things wrong with China. With that being said, this post does worry me a bit, not that I didn't see it coming.

The Chinese economy is supported by US consumers. These fears that China is going to "take over" America are unfounded. They have cheap labor, we have consumers.

One point to keep in mind is that the Chinese have a similar reputation as the Saudis regarding suspicions about manipulating official numbers for domestic political reasons. For example, construction numbers have long been puffed with large-scale Chinese versions of The Bridge to Nowhere (google "empty chinese cities").

In the meantime, problems with offshore quality control and timely delivery have led to a growing tendency to bring production back onshore, constrained primarily by a severe shortage of skilled production workers.

And this is somehow news? We're shipping all our jobs overseas, professional athletes are valued and paid higher than people who actually contribute to the economy and illegal immigrants send millions of dollars out of the US economy annually. Surprise...

It was bound to happen eventually.
The US gave China "most favored nation trading status" a long time ago and has been outsourcing manufacturing to China for decades.
We have less manufacturing and consequently less jobs in the US because we have given that manufacturing (and jobs) away to other countries.
Now they are acting like it is a surprise?

They were bound to outpace us eventually, but we have assisted them with the legalization of cheap labor that sends much of it's money back home and the outsourcing of many jobs. If American leaned more towards Capitalism and away from Corporatism we might have a chance to catch back up and surpass China.
