Am I obligated to continue to show up to drills after my contract expires? https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/am-i-obligated-to-continue-to-show-up-to-drills-after-my-contract-expires <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I separated from active duty back in Feb. 2019, and I have remaining IRR time until 2023. Upon completion of SFL-TAP, I signed a contract to do the Army Reserve &quot;Try One&quot; year program. In my contract, Annex A, states that I signed for 1 year and before the completion of my one year I need to submit a packet to transfer to IRR. I submitted said packet in December and I am currently waiting on Battalion S1 to do what they have to do with it. My question is, if Battalion S1 doesn&#39;t do what they have to do with my packet before my 1 year contract is up, am I obligated to continue to show up to drills after that 1 year? Just to be on the safe side. But, you should really address this concern with your Chain. I could be way off base, but this doesn&#39;t seem like something i would risk getting in any kind of trouble over. Just dropping off paperwork doesn&#39;t seem like the end all be all, dueces, im out, kind of way to do things. Maybe it is, hopefully some smart reservist can chime in on this. So you need to go to drill. It would be nice if they offered this plan where it was on the Reserve to convince you to reenlist to stay past that one year but it doesn&#39;t sound like they did. I&#39;m a Reservist and I&#39;ve seen soldiers go through the process of submitting the paperwork and I&#39;ve seen soldiers opt to not submit paperwork and continue drilling through their IRR time until they ETS&#39;d. You cannot get paid and if they try it will mess up your separation orders. This happens frequently in the reserve components due to many factors but reat assured if your ETS has passed there is nothing negative that can occur. With that being said, contact your readiness NCO, 1SG, and/or commander concerning so a warrant doesnt get issued erroneously.
