Am I authorized Permissive TDY if I have already been on station for two months and my wife is PCSing to my duty station? https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/am-i-authorized-permissive-tdy-if-i-have-already-been-on-station-for-two-months-and-my-wife-is-pcsing-to-my-duty-station

My wife and I recently got married 9 August 2019 while she was on midtour leave. She is stationed in Korea and I am stationed at Fort Campbell. She is supposed to PCS from Korea in about a month and a half. She is obviously authorized 10 days of Permissive TDY because she is PCSing and of course, married. My question is, would I be able to and am I authorized to take the 10 days of PTDY at the same time with her even though I am already on station and have been for about 2 months now? I am very familiar with the area around Fort Campbell and would definitely be helpful to us in finding a place if I was on PTDY with her; as opposed to her trying to find a place on her own while I'm at work. Please provide a regulation that I can reference. I'd allow it under these circumstances, as long as it doesn't impact any major training event or deployment. The regulation that covers PTDY is AR 600-8-10, Section XVI ("Permissive Temporary Duty"). LTC Kevin B. You've been there for two months. You've been living on the streets for two months? Or have you already found a place to live? Kidding, but not kidding. Seriously, she SHOULD be able to handle it on her own. Obviously you want to (and should) help her with it, but do not fret that she will fail without you being there during the days. Even if she is running in to problems, she ALSO has a Chain of Command that is there to help her out. That is both the up and the down of being a dual military couple.

Finally, I am retired from Campbell, and I lived in Clarksville for the couple years I was stationed there before retirement. When I retired, I moved north - all the way to Hopkinsville. I can't do anything at all to influence your leadership (or hers) or Ft. Campbell policy or anything like that. In an official (or even "unofficial") capacity, I can't do jack for you. But if you run into issues and need a hand with anything not policy or leadership related (like need advice on neighborhoods, do a quick drive by a house, that type of thing) feel free to drop me a private message. I check RP every couple days, if not every day, and drive all over Hoptown and Clarksville for my jobs. It might take a couple days, so give me time to work on things, but I am happy to help a young Soldier any time I can. Your chain of command can help you out and be understanding of your situation but keep in mind they don’t have to. They do on the other hand have to give you BAH for the time they have not provided you with a room I. The barracks, you got married on the 9th so you would not receive that money until next month at the earliest.
