Am I allowed to work on Aircraft if I'm about to PCS? People have been telling me I can't but what is the regulation that says that?

Look in AR 40-501 Standards of medical fitness. I think yopu are still able to work but if it is listed, hope this helps

Only if you have civilian license, like A&P. As far as I know that is the only way to work on nonmilitary aircraft

If you're PCSing, there is no reason why you shouldn't be able to work on aircraft. At least up to the day before you departure. Usually those days are spent clearing the base and unit. If you've already turned in your tools then you could still borrow someone else's To work.

I was an Aircraft Electrician when I was in and never was told that I couldn't work on anything. However, I retired from the Army 20 years ago so life as I knew is no longer.

some units dont allow you out of fear. they say if you do something wrong, or forget to sign something off, etc, etc...

You can work until the day you turn in your tools, TI stamp, or whatever maintenance tools you have signed for but there's a unwritten rule to stop working 30 days out (this varies) to avoid complacency issues.

when your PCS your get orders then your are reliefs of duty you place is duty is clear the post the only formation you need to be at is the first formation of the day (P.T.)
