Roughly 1 year ago I informed my leadership of my leave I trying to take which falls within my scheduled ALC slot. is there any chance of getting rescheduled for the next class in august? I understand that getting an ALC slot is hard but after requesting my leave dates 1 year ago (while not taking leave within that 1 year and covering down shift work that needed to be covered) I would assume that perhaps that should've been considered. I'm just wondering if its possible to be rescheduled or do I just have to suck it up and attend my scheduled ALC class. Is it possible to get my ALC slot rescheduled due to a conflict with my scheduled leave dates?2023-03-06T15:13:18-05:00SSG Private RallyPoint Member8166635

I'm currently scheduled to go to ALC from May - July. Unless you emailed the NCOES branch at HRC and told them you would be on leave, how would they be able to consider it?

You can get the date changed. It requires a 4187 endorsed through your CG (or maybe it was O6). I do know that if you miss it, it requires an endorsement from your CG to get rescheduledResponse by SFC Private RallyPoint Member made Mar 6 at 2023 4:06 PM2023-03-06T16:06:45-05:002023-03-06T16:06:45-05:00SFC Kelly Fuerhoff8166704

Doubtful - most deferments are for medical or compassionate reasons - not for leave. This is from HRC under Example of Personnel Action Request for Deferment:

"In all cases, Soldiers canceled, deferred, or removed require a PAR routed through the first General Officer (GO) (or SES equivalent) in the Soldier’s chain of command to be rescheduled. All requests must state when the NCO is available to attend training and forwarded to HRC for approval.
A second Noncommissioned Officer Education System (NCOES) course deferment request for the same course must be signed by the next higher-level GO (or SES equivalent) in the NCO’s chain of command."

Now I know it's changed with the promotion system changes on who gets slotted and when. The only time I've deferred anything is I had SLC deferred at least twice over 3 years when my daughter had all her medical issues. But it put me on the QMP list because I didn't go in 3 years (got that waived) but it was due to compassionate reasons. I was divorcing/divorced, her sole provider and she was on dialysis at a point waiting on a kidney. Luckily she got it before I ended up going - but I got put on a wait list while she was still on dialysis with the mentality that I had to possibly leave her and possibly miss her transplant. The only other times I got deferred - when I got scheduled for AIT PSG school I found out I was pregnant. And then I had to defer ALC (when it was still BNCOC) because I got hurt, but again it was easier to defer at those two points.

I think for my second deferment is when it changed to first GO in the chain and I was in a joint unit so the Army Element commander was the first GO in my chain. I would say suck it up and go to ALC and then have the leave put in after you get back. I don't see you getting it deferred unless you prove some hardship or something. I mean if you want to attempt to get it routed to your CG, go for it.Response by SFC Kelly Fuerhoff made Mar 6 at 2023 4:24 PM2023-03-06T16:24:12-05:002023-03-06T16:24:12-05:002023-03-06T15:13:18-05:00
