NCOA is the second level of Enlisted Professional Military Education (EPME) in the Air Force. You first become an NCO in the AF at E-5, included in that formula is also obtaining your 5 level training along with NCOA residency or the CDC course. The correspondence course is pretty easy to get through especially if your coming from the Corps or Army. Personally I would be more concerned about obtaining your training levels. If you do maintain the rank of E-5 upon entering the AF you will have to complete 3 level training unless a waiver is approved. Then complete your 5 level and 7 level for advancement to E-6.
