What do you guys think? I can understand their initial reaction, however had this been someone else? Would the reaction be the same? Race card aside, it was handled pretty inappropriately as well. The situation could and should have been assessed on the spot especially since the engineering teacher already had knowledge.

They want to arrest/detain a 14 year year old kid for making a clock but they let the V.A. St. Louis Records Management Center Customer Service Division Chief and her two IDiots(her description) and her boss to hide my Military Medical Records for twenty years and the entire V.A. System looks other way while the two IDiots repeatedly threaten to erase shred delete password redact six documents that show I was injured in the line of Duty. They lie to senator's U.S. Representative James Jordan Congressional Liaison and many more. I wrote the White House begging for my records and they direct the people to give me my records. I got a letter from Chief of Customer No Service Division stating that some one will get my records in about nine months. My bet is the Chief of Customer No Service will retire before then. While her boss will say none of it is true. Well my two hundred Supporting Documents might help. But really twenty years Nine months? The Chief of Customer No Service telling me her two IDiots are hiding documents of at least four other Veterans they do not like.

I heard. Just makes me sick the Racist Ignorance in this country. I would say the Kid has a case to sue the living daylights out of the Police, City and School District.

Its not like the kid was trying to hide it, first clue that it might be a energetic.
Yes the teachers should be vigilant but their actions need to be prudent.
I'm concern is that now this kid has been processed and fingerprinted for this, he will never hold a security clearance for the military, Law enforcement or Federal service. And if he is as smart as it says the actions taken will forever hunt him and his future.

Oh I don't think this will be an issue as far as him joining the Military or getting a Clearance. I was a Teenage Hacker, I had a Ferguson Cop pull a gun on me. I had a TS/SCI Clearance for 21 years. I can actually see the different departments of the armed forces jockeying to recruit this kid. Of course I would say that being Past Master at Arms to Commander Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command Washington, DC.

I can understand law enforcement investigating the matter to determine whether or not it was a threat but once they saw that it was in fact a clock and had literally nothing inside that could even be remotely explosive they should have realized that it wasn't a threat and neither was he.

I disagree that the actions of the teacher and police were based solely on his race; how many school shootings have been done by people of Middle Eastern descent?

None that I can think of. Lot of anti muslin hysteria. Sort of like locking up 80,000 American Citzens in concentration camps back in the day. How many attacks were there in California conducted by Japanese Americans.

SFC Joseph Weber - Sergeant; OK so none of them were committed by people of Middle Eastern descent - but they MIGHT have been and everyone knows that it is absolutely necessary to regulate the behavior of everyone who MIGHT not be a "White Christian" since absolutely none of those school shootings have been carried out by "White Christians".

Right?

COL Ted Mc - Hah! I had to read the entire chain like four times to get it Sir. SGT Christopher Churilla comments included. Subtle sarcasm may be too much for me. Though I like to think I am hilariously sarcastic at times. I certainly have many views that would be considered unfriendly when it comes to certain people in Iraq or Afghanistan. But when we talk about a young American who is probably smarter than all of us, grinds my gears.

If he had tried to take that through airport security he would have been stuffed and cuffed, the bomb squad would have been called and the airport would have been locked down. No way in hell that he would have gotten into the White House with it.

Sgt Aaron Kennedy, MS - Only because of this incident. If this wouldn't have happened, the president would have never invited him and he would have never been allowed to bring it to the White House.

Exactly, SGT Jerrold Pesz. The President is making a political point with his invitation, but there is NO WAY the Secret Service would allow something like that clock anywhere near the White House (before this incident) without some serious screening (and I do mean SERIOUS SCREENING).

So we are now going to subject our schools to the same level of security theater as our airports? The kids will be thrilled to remove their shoes before entering. I'm sure parents will have no problems with the pat-downs by security personal. I guess the sports teams will have to make do with 3 ounce bottles of Gatorade...better buy them in bulk.

CW5 (Join to see) - Mr. Mongomery; The "serious" screening for a device like that one takes approximately 10 seconds.

"REALLY SERIOUS SCREENING" would take about three and one half hours with about three hours and twenty-nine minutes of that time being required to get the device to the location where the ten second long "serious" screening can be done.

This article made me think of the movie "The Breakfast Club." Now think back to the kids serving Saturday detention in the movie and the transgressions that got them there. Now think about that in today's world.

Good point. I just watched the Breakfast Club again a month or two ago. Today that movie would have to be made at the county jail with orange jumpsuits and armed guards, mug shots, finger prints etc.

I agree with you. I think the reaction was a little harsh, his going to juvenile detention. I would want the officers at school to just assess the incident, if they found no foul play, give apologies and move on. But I'm sorry, this is world we live in now and it's scary.

According to the Dallas Morning News, the first person he showed it to was his teacher.

That pretty much says it all.
