After reclassifying to Infantry, what should be expected out of me as a SGT when I get to my first Infantry company? 2018-06-11T08:59:19-04:00 SPC Private RallyPoint Member 3702204

I’m currently a mechanic, but I reclass end to 11b in a few months, and wanted to know what should be expected out of me as a SGT when I get to my first infantry company? Know your battle drills AR 7-8 and be able to train your men on them. A PT score of 270+. They aren’t going to care that you reclassed. The learning curve is going to be high as you will bee in charge of men that have more time in the Infantry than you do. Make yourself the subject matter expert and you’ll be fine. Leadership is leadership is leadership, so that part doesn't change. The job changed, and the NCOs and senior noncoms who will work under you have beein infantry a whole lot longer than you.

They will immediately write you off as some kind of POG poser (which are the WORST) if you act like you out-know them on infantry things (especially whey they are right). If you try to fake it, they'll let you fail (and you will, because they will set you up for it). If you are gracious about accepting their 'recommendations' about things they are more familiar with than you while learning as much as quickly as you can about the infantry, they'll respect you and help bring you up to speed.
