After leaving the Navy with an RE-4 JFV (adjustment disorder), what are the chances of my waiver being approved to join the NG? https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/after-leaving-the-navy-with-an-re-4-jfv-adjustment-disorder-what-are-the-chances-of-my-waiver-being-approved-to-join-the-ng

So I joined the navy and realized it wasn’t the right branch for me and I got a re4 jfv condition not a disability pretty much was diagnosed with adjustment disorder. I’m now planning on joining the national guard I’ve never had any mental health issues or anything of the sort and went to get a psych profile that cleared me of every diagnosis that says I’m fit for military service. I guess my question is what are the chances of the waiver being approved? I know the national guard does things a little different and they look at the whole person concept since leaving the navy I’ve been going to college and going to the police academy to be a police officer . Also I should say that I know the national guard waives re4 codes if the army would consider a re3 which adjustment disorder they do . No waiver will be granted. The only way it can be upgraded, if memory serves, is that you have to request an upgrade to RE3 if the RE4 was incorrectly given to you. If the RE4 was correctly given, then you don't have a dog in this hunt. But the only way to know for sure is to go speak with a National Guard recruiter. They're the SMEs. I understand its too late for you but many others will have this same question and I always wonder. Its always easier to rejoin when you leave the military the "right" way. I mean no offense but I'm curious. If you feel this is in error, you can apply for an upgrade. In reality, unless you can show they shouldn't have used that code, you are probably out of luck. However, there are certain EIT level discharges that can be waivered, talk with a recruiter.
A second point I will make is that if you join the Army National Guard, you will still have to attend Basic Combat Training and Advance Individual Training on Active Duty with the Regular Army. I can assure you that BCT will be decidedly more physically demanding that Navy Recruit training. If you couldn't hack Great Lakes, why do you assume you can do better in the Army?
Recruit Training in any service bears little resemblance to actual service. There are plenty of opportunities in the Navy that don't involve being a squid on a boat (no offense meant) but it's a little late now. I don't know how much an RE4 is going to follow you in the civilian world either. I'm sorry. I wish could have caught you on the front end.
