PO1 Mark Letcher4618797<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I spent some time on subs in the early '80s. My understanding was that Navy Op-Sec security restrictions would end after 30 years. My current understanding is that around 2008 that restrictions were extended to 50 years. Is that true? I can't find any discussions or comments, much less the Executive Order (I don't think it was legislated, if so I can't find it). I'm pretty good with Google too. I'd like to write a book for my nieces about that time. Its been almost 40 years of peace now. We won the Cold War.After how long do USN Op-Sec restrictions end?2019-05-09T09:59:39-04:00PO1 Mark Letcher4618797<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I spent some time on subs in the early '80s. And even after my original exposure to classified material/actions on the boats in the 1958-60 timeframe, I still don’t feel I can reveal operations. The last time I looked In on this, I found records on you are kept for 50 years. There have many books and articles on classified actions, so there must be something to release what you want.Response by MCPO Roger Collins made May 9 at 2019 3:44 PM2019-05-09T15:44:49-04:002019-05-09T15:44:49-04:00MCPO Roger Collins4620258<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Forgot to attach this excerpt from SF-312.<br /><br />“Unless and until I am released in writing by an authorized representative of the United States Government, I understand that all conditions an obligations imposed upon me by this agreement apply during the time I am granted access to classified information, and at all times thereafter.”Response by MCPO Roger Collins made May 9 at 2019 3:54 PM2019-05-09T15:54:06-04:002019-05-09T15:54:06-04:00PO1 Mark Letcher4620582<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I was a civilian for about 30 years until I was legally obligated to prove Health Care protection. But, now that all that comes flooding back (as we in the sub service say). Now, I reminisce of the 'bad old days' and my obligations and the governments obligations to me. And how come the VA wants to see my taxes! I am under audit. I don't even work for the government anymore. And, I want my Social Security back, with interest. But, I'm old and it is your grand kids future. The book will be great. Thus my inquiries. I'm re-reading the SF-312, to my dismay. I knew I needed glasses then too!Response by PO1 Mark Letcher made May 9 at 2019 5:40 PM2019-05-09T17:40:04-04:002019-05-09T17:40:04-04:00MSgt Frank Askins4620778<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Try contacting the nearest Navy base and ask for the personal security or OPSEC office. They should be able to give you the most up to date information.Response by MSgt Frank Askins made May 9 at 2019 6:31 PM2019-05-09T18:31:32-04:002019-05-09T18:31:32-04:002019-05-09T09:59:39-04:00
