A Big Chicken Dinner is a punitive discharge which means you were Court Martialed. Under 38 U.S.C. § 5303, you are not entitled to any Veterans benefits unless you can prove you were insane at the time of your conviction.

I really hope you're not going around telling people you're a veteran.

as he said, "technically" he is a veteran since he did not get a Dishonorable Discharge. Still a douche move to try to claim veteran status with any kind of punitive discharge.

Have you looked on line for a chart that lists what benefits you are eligible for? There are a couple of charts available on line. You should have also received a list or chart of available benefits when you out-processed.

BCD is a punitive discharge. You can only get that if you are convicted at court martial. Any conviction at court martial imposes a statutory bar against receiving veterans benefits under US Code 38 5303.

LTC (Join to see) - I know it's a punitive charge. He asked a question that was very easily answered by a quick Google search. On a side note: I was the bailiff for a former friend's court martial when we were in the 1st AD at Rose Barracks.

SSG Laurie Mullen - I'm sure he already knew the answer. He just was trying to find someone who would give him a different one. lol
