It seems very probably there could be many intelligent species 'out there'. Given the distances involved, and assuming faster-than-light travel is impossible, then it seems most likely these intelligent species will never run into each other. It's great fun to speculate about, though. "You're one of the young races."<br /><br />I'm an engineer, systems, and numbers guy. If you take a look at the Earth's progression and when we fell out of the trees, then the rest of the math says there's older, many extinct, many advanced, some not as advanced. Whether a scientist or a creationist, you simply can't ignore the scope of the universe and its potential for harboring all manner of life. <br /><br />That being said, I have come to doubt claims that we have been "visited". Reported sightings abounded until the advent of cheap and plentiful video recording devices. It does seem more than coincidental that reported sightings have not included video proof in recent times...
