I do not see why there couldn't be life anywhere else in any of the galaxies we can see.

If there is life out there I would also think they would probably find us first, just a hunch on that one.

I voted for 'we're alone' not because I think we're the only intelligent life there is in the universe. It seems very probably there could be many intelligent species 'out there'. Given the distances involved, and assuming faster-than-light travel is impossible, then it seems most likely these intelligent species will never run into each other. It's great fun to speculate about, though.

I'm an engineer, systems, and numbers guy. If you take a look at the Earth's progression and when we fell out of the trees, then the rest of the math says there's older, many extinct, many advanced, some not as advanced. So odds are there will be a knock at the door someday.

Unless it's a universal truth that truly advanced civilizations stay away from the riff-raff because we're boring.

We will likely never definitively know that life exists outside this solar system. All we can do is hope and dream.

Voted "We'll never know" as it is probably the most accurate.

In what is essentially an infinitely large & EXPANDING Universe, which is functionally limited by the speed of light, we can't get anywhere fast enough to find anyone else.

But when you look at Earth from the top down from outside the Universe as a whole, we are the third planet of Sol, which is a backwater system on the far edges of our galaxy, which is one of many in the "visible" universe (limited by the speed of light).

To think we are the only beings in all the universe would be like an anthill thinking it is the only one on all of Earth.

I believe that there is life out there. I hazard to guess that they may be human, but there are possibilities of life other than human in the universe. I just hope that they are a peaceful race.

The universe is too big to only have us in it. There is definitely life out there somewhere, maybe not humanoid but some sort of life forms.

It would be human arrogance to say we are the only sentient life in the universe. Are we not being visited already by UFO's?
Area 51 is a good example, look how fast we have advanced technologically in the past 20 yrs. we are an intelligent race, but really, we are not that intelligent to advance as fast as we have.

I agree with Issac Asimov who postulated that it would be ludicrous to assume that we are alone in the universe. Whether a scientist or a creationist, you simply can't ignore the scope of the universe and its potential for harboring all manner of life.

That being said, I have come to doubt claims that we have been "visited". Reported sightings abounded until the advent of cheap and plentiful video recording devices. It does seem more than coincidental that reported sightings have not included video proof in recent times...
