SPC Randall Eichelberger1172986<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>So, while I was in we had a lot of...strange stuff come down from BN to say the least. And not a single E-4 thought they made any sense. It got me thinking, what if every commander from the position of BC on up had an E4 assigned to him. This E4's duty would be to squash the good idea fairy every time she reared her ugly head. He gets 3 vetos a month in garrison, but his position is relegated to something similar to aide or driver in combat, thus ensuring the proper person is giving proper orders (well hopefully..) to soldiers in harms way. I mean, we all know the mafia is willing to use their buddy's as the butt of a joke and we don't want that type of stuff in combat. This goes all the way to the top, to the Joint Chief's themselves. If you're in a position of command, you can be assured there will be a SPC there by your side ensuring you are successful in keeping morale up.A Proposal for a New Position for E4's2015-12-13T19:16:18-05:00SPC Randall Eichelberger1172986<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>So, while I was in we had a lot of...strange stuff come down from BN to say the least. Heck I see my divisional commander(2-3 times a year) and battalion commander(at least once every other drill) more than I see my battalions CSM. I see him exactly once year for an event I volunteer for to get out of drill. How is the CSM doing his job if he isn't out taking the pulse of the troopsResponse by SPC Private RallyPoint Member made Dec 13 at 2015 7:30 PM2015-12-13T19:30:18-05:002015-12-13T19:30:18-05:00SFC(P) Jonathan P.1173279<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Sounds like a idea that can be discussed !Response by SFC(P) Jonathan P. made Dec 13 at 2015 9:06 PM2015-12-13T21:06:25-05:002015-12-13T21:06:25-05:00SGT Private RallyPoint Member1173983<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>That would be great except I don't know one single specialist who would actually want to be that specialist assigned to the BC. Anytime the CSM or the BN CO would come up with a project or plan that was morale focused the office team would be polled on our opinion, and if we assumed the plan would succeed. This obviously didn't apply to mission sensitive issues, but where our opinion was relevant it was considered.Response by SPC Joshua Heath made Dec 14 at 2015 9:24 AM2015-12-14T09:24:30-05:002015-12-14T09:24:30-05:00WO1 Private RallyPoint Member1176231<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>So the is a Sergeant Major of the Army to represent enlisted soldiers, I think there should be a Senior Specialist of the Army to represent lower enlisted. Strangely enough, my daughter is joining the Army National Guard in Georgia and, while we were sitting there, the SFC asked me how old I am. I told her and she asked if I was interested in joining and you could have knocked me over with a Private I was so surprised. She made a good point. I can retire in 13 years. <br /><br />So, Thursday, I'm going in to have a sit down, with my daughter there as well to finish her paperwork. And to answer your thread, it looks like my career path will be returning to the Army...National Guard instead of Regular...as a Warrant Officer as I have since received my degree. And Warrants are Specialists whose job it is to say, "Not smart, sir." Well, maybe I'll be that guy anyways. One can hope!Response by WO1(P) James Jarrett made Dec 15 at 2015 2:38 PM2015-12-15T14:38:43-05:002015-12-15T14:38:43-05:00SPC Christopher Perrien1178327<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Well , a good leader is already doing this. A LTC+ ,or top/smash that does not 'break the chain" and go down and find the EM's out there doing the "stuff" and ask them what they think, is a lousy leader. I missed one old commander(LTC. Morgan) who use to come down to the motor pool, or out in the field and bum cigs, and ask questions of em's when no sergeants were around. Damned if he did not seem to seek me out after a while, because I told him the honest stuff (or maybe he knew I always had cigs, LOL) and more surprisingly(at first) he acted on stuff I mentioned many times.<br /><br />IIRC, it seems some units had a em "board" of sorts like what you suggest run by the Smash. Given it was voluntary and not known for doing much and could only be attended by people with "time on their hands", it generally had nothing but kiss-ass remf em's in it from HQ, anyway.Response by SPC Christopher Perrien made Dec 15 at 2015 8:50 PM2015-12-15T20:50:30-05:002015-12-15T20:50:30-05:00SPC Private RallyPoint Member1183571<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Lmao....Response by SPC Private RallyPoint Member made Dec 17 at 2015 8:24 PM2015-12-17T20:24:08-05:002015-12-17T20:24:08-05:00SPC Private RallyPoint Member1192065<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>This is such a great Idea!Response by SPC Private RallyPoint Member made Dec 22 at 2015 4:40 PM2015-12-22T16:40:23-05:002015-12-22T16:40:23-05:002015-12-13T19:16:18-05:00
