The V.A. recently announced the award of $4 million in renewal funding offered to 21 community agencies that currently provide enhanced services for homeless Veterans with special needs. These agencies provide transitional housing and services to veterans in need. The programs target the frail, elderly, those with mental illness and those with minor children.

CPT (Join to see) it is a small drop in the bucket but it is a something nevertheless. I think they can and should do more. Homelessness amongst veterans will never be fully eradicated until we are able to put an end to war. A veteran comes home from war, scarred by what he/she has seen or done and then they self medicate by drinking and/or drugging. These issues will not go away overnight. I think that if we all here continue to look out for our members/veterans in need, those small steps will go a long way in addition to help from the higher ups. Veterans helping Veterans, thats what we are about!

Our local VA facilities got a superficial "facelift"...looks good on the outside, but inside is a totally different story...especially in the area of care for our veterans! - almost as if they are punishing Vets rather than correcting their wrongs!
