When did it become ok for my fellow NCOs to hold top performing soldiers back from military schools? What would be the recommendation to fix this? Both of us are SFC but he is the acting 1SG.

this is why I believe we should be able to question orders and directives (understand there is always time, etc).
if the why isn't obvious, you should be able to explain in about 2 sentences or less.
if its, "because I said so" or, "Im in charge" then you are a failure.

Sir,
I would have to professionally disagree with you. At times, "time" is not a luxury we have in our profession. If it's not immoral or illegal then due to time constraints I would have to support the decision in the moment and revisit it later. Soldiers will always find a reason to complain, I can not also give them the ability to question. It's all about the "buy in" factor. Soldiers, most of the time will not find an issue with an order unless someone has alluded or inferred about it. It's our job as Professional Leaders to get behind our chain of command or NCO Support channel and back them. Unless as previously stated if it is "illegal or immoral".
