I was struck by lighting while on a very short plane flight from New York City to Ithaca New York. It was in a small propeller plane (beachcraft I believe).

The captain had just told us to fasten our seat belts because of turbulence when the airplane sounded like it exploded with a very loud, sharp, crack. The lady next to me started freaking out and asked if we were going to crash. I was about 8 drinks in since my previous flight had been canceled (due to weather) and I calmly told her that it happens all the time, airplanes are meant to take lightning strikes. I later found out that was somewhat true, but at the time I was lying through my teeth.
