CH (MAJ) (Join to see) - First, congratulations to these two female officers. Regardless of whether people feel they should have been allowed to attend Ranger School or not, they completed all the requirements and deserve to be praised. I am glad to welcome them to the Ranger graduate family.
As far as Samuel Ketchum's comments, he is certainly entitled to his opinion. In many ways, I tend to agree with much of what he said.

Well at least he isn't active duty, but he definitely toes a line even then. He used the completely unpopular, not following their role according to God, argument... One that most Christians don't believe was the intent.
edit: Actually I think most Christians DO believe that WAS the intent, but that times have changed and it is historical and not a current order/statement/guide for that instance.

I am grateful for the clarification. If I may play devil's advocate: Perhaps, Sam's concern is what was God's intent regrading roles? (something that wouldn't change over time.) In an age where you can read stories of transgendered now "men" giving birth, it might be plausible to say that God's intent wasn't for men to give birth. Sam may be suggesting that there is an eternal will of God and that we might want to explore what it that is.

CH (MAJ) (Join to see) I definitely don't disagree. I'll admit I always struggle with how much of my faith to let show publicly while I'm active duty. Perhaps I go to the opposite extreme and hold myself back more than I should.

LCDR (Join to see) My counsel would be to continue to fight the good fight, and be as wise as a serpent and as innocent as a dove.

(Judges 4:17-24, 5:24-27) Deborah gave the Israelites victory against the iron chariots of Sisera; (Judges 4:17-24, 5:24-27) Jael's story is similar to the story of David and Goliath. Though she was a weak woman, Jael triumphed over a seemingly invincible warrior, Sisera and killed him driving a tent peg through his skull. - straight out of the Bible
