Do You Agree with Defense Secretary Ash Carter's 'Secret Sauce' Needed to Beat ISIS?

http://www.nbcnews.com/storyline/isis-terror/defense-secretary-ash-carter-reveals-secret-sauce-needed-beat-isis-n397711

"We're trying to get a defeat that sticks," he told a group of several dozen troops. "And that can be delivered only by the people that live here," adding, "that's the secret sauce."

RP Nation what do you think?

I think we need to go back to the Reagan's deterrent strategy. Let's find a small isolated ISIS camp and hit it with a small tactical Nuke. Let the world know we have these things and we will use them.

This isn't just about ISIS, the world thinks we are weak.

Nuke worked on Japan. They have been at peace with us ever since. We can't shy away from using every tool in our arsenal because we've allowed the war to come home to our shores. Soldiers, police officers and civilians are being killed at a steady pace in the states while we hope our inadequate Homeland Security will roll snake eyes the next time.

HELL YES!!!I was a Lance Missile Crewmember during the last days of the Cold War. My platoon was the most profane platoon in the history of NATO to launch a live missile into the Mediterranean in 1990. Although the Army pulled all Lance units and turned them into MLRS battalions, the Army still has Lance rockets and I know a lot of people in my social network who also served on Lance crews, meet every year, and would be honored and eager to prove they still got it!

SPC Vicky King - The situation in Japan and in Iraq are so utterly different as to be incomparable.

SPC Darrell Wunderlich - To date, our level of engagement hasn't convinced them to end their reign of terror. We need to step up the level and end this like we did with Japan in WWII. It is only when they realize they have NO hope of conquering the world that they will stop their campaign of killing every person on earth who doesn't surrender to their tyranny and adopt their religion.

I do agree. We cannot achieve a lasting peace in an area that we are foreign to unless we want to stay there forever.

Yes we can. We have to annihilate the enemy. We absolutely have the resources. I recognize that this enormous task may appear too daunting to some, and too grotesque for others. But when we muster the courage and good sense to consider the alternative, some of us think it is better to end the enemy in their home court, rather than see another American die here in the states while citizens live in growing fear.

SPC Vicky King I think you're missing the point. Well actually that's unfair you might be right on it and I'm off, but I understood the question differently.

How can we annihilate an ideal?

There is no clear entity to wage war on in this case. Ironically even if we were to kill every last person in the Middle East, it would only alienate people at home and spread the ideology further inward. I am not saying we cannot succeed against ISIS, but I am saying that the days of a war being "won" by either side are essentially over.

I agree. Victory from the air will only be temporary. We must involve the Nationals on the ground in order to defeat ISIS. We must be careful though that when ISIS is removed a vacuum is not created which allows yet another radical group to fill it's place.

CPT (Join to see), All of us feel the same way. We're military and we know what must be done to eradicate these scum. They're not afraid of us because we've done nothing to make them afraid of us. It's time for all the political mambo jumbo to end, and someone, (Obama), do what is necessary to do to end this. With ISIS having a following of ten million, you kill one leader, there are thousands trained to take over the reins. We'll never stop them. More and more heads will roll, no pun intended, unless our POTUS grows some. IMHO

The jihadist terrorists are being grown in the mosques of their religion. As long as that religion exists, the lives of everybody on earth is at risk of annihilation by their extremist mandate that everybody convert or die at their hands.
