In Boot Camp, the signal to move forward on the Infiltration Course (Earplugs were not utilized for this training.) was the detonation of a line charge less than 10 yards behind us. It threw all of us onto our faces.

I was visting Madigan Army Medical center in 2009. I spoke to a soldier who had a traumatic brain injury because an enemy round had exploded nearby. He thought he was uninjured but the overpressure caused him Traumatic brain injury.
It can happen.
