What is the average you’ve worked daily as a 88m? Hours wise…. Weekends common? On rotation?

Give me the scoop I have had my CDL for 7 years and in the civ world it’s garbage and I can enter as a e4 with having my CDL so long or pick a new field my asvab was 46?

Most folks don't work weekends unless the mission requires it. I've seen some 88Ms drive when needed but mainly doing PMCS.

It All Depends On The Post And Unit You Are Assigned To, 88Ms Can Operate Any Vehicle With Wheels,
I Was Stationed At Ft Irwin My Primary Unit Was HET Platoon 31st Maintenance Company, However We Had Drivers Detailed To Drive School Buses For Troop Transport .
I Spent Three Months Assigned To The Garrison Command Protocol Office, Driving VIPs In Sedans And Humves.
As For Your Work Schedule You Could Work 12-14 Hour Days 7 Days A Week Or 8 Hour Days 5 Days A Week, At Fr Irwin We Got A 4 Day Weekend At The End Of Each Rotation.
Unit Mission Will Dictate Your Schedule Always.
88M Is A Great MOS And You Can Go Anywhere They Have Wheeled Vehicles.

The average you work excluding PT is in accordance with a training schedule which is generally is generally an 8 hour work day with an hour of PT. So 9 hours. But the training schedule hours out the window when mission dictates.

As an 88M it depends on what type of unit you are assigned to as to the frequency with which you drive, perform maintenance, or work on basic soldiering skills. And as for the 8 hours, that's just on paper.

Are you asking for 88Ms in the Guard or Reserves? Or Active Duty? Active duty they're gonna probably be in the motor pool every day. Weekends depend on the unit and rotations. I don't think most truck drivers are in on the weekend unless there is an exercise going on or something where the whole unit is there. I don't see anyone in the motorpools on the weekends and I live on base. Only if they are ramping up for some training or something. If they aren't at the motorpool they are probably working in the company training room.

Now Guard and Reserve - my brother is an 88M in the Guard. 20 years now. He deployed in 05-06 when I did too (I'm active) and so of course he was always on the roads there as they were a transportation company.

When he's in the States - it's the one weekend a month and 2 weeks AT. For their AT, they would drive around the country doing whatever they do. On the weekend a month they were in the armory. Not sure what they did on regular drill weekends. I know he will call me when he's driving home to pass the time lol.

During covid he volunteered to help out when they needed Guard people to help with running testing sites, etc. I'm not sure if he's been in a unit that called up for natural disasters at all. He's a SSG now and I think he works in the training room at this point he said last I asked. I think he said he does a lot of the training for the drivers at this point.

The ours depends on the type of mission that your company has. When I was on NTC our days were about 12 hours during rotations. A transportation Company has a different tempo compared to a FSC. The bottom line is the job is great I did it on Active and on the reserves.

That will depend on your unit assignment, their place in the mission brackets. In the 82nd since we trained M-F and often weekends, our non fiels weekends were normally devoted to Maintenance, repair and prep for the next week.

PT starts in the morning at 0630. From 0730 to 0900 you'll be released for breakfast/shit/shower /shave. from 0900 to 1130 its daily operations or whatever. Lunch from 1130 to 1300. From 1300 to 1700 it's more motor pool work and tying up loose ends. Usually get off around 1700.

Things change if you have barracks/battalion staff duty. That's a whole day but usually the next day is off.

I worked every day. didn't drive every day though. I was assigned to an armor brigade in Germany driving a fuel truck. afterwards I was assigned to engineer brigade in Ft Devans MA. that was a junk job as I had gotten my e5 and they needed a fuel driver not an NCO. I ended up getting a bus license from the civilian motor pool and that got me out of sitting around 8 hrs a day

I. Not sure about today's Army, but when I was in if we were not in the field 10hrs, if we were in the field 18hrs with 6hr sleep. We had most weekend off.

Depending on where your at and the mission of the unit and The Type of missions that tour unit supports .
