What are you doing, on your own, to maintain technical proficiency in your MOS?

I am stationed at a job that although academically linked to my community, is outside of it.

I am an Aircraft Maintenance Officer and I haven't managed aircraft maintenance for over a year. I stay in contact with people in the fleet and keep up to date on what is going on with platforms I've worked with or will in the future. Connections help in the process, but it is admittedly difficult when you are outside your field (or MOS) to try to stay relevant and up to date.

I admit, sir, that it is a true challenge once we work outside of our field. It surely is tricky to balance career progression and proficiency.

CW2 (Join to see) Most definitely. I will say I'm taking advantage to get everything I can education-wise (DAWIA, JPME, etc.) completed now though.

Reading is about the only method I use to maintain proficiency on my own.
