SSG Pratlin,

It hit my inbox at 0700 this morning.  It is 57 powerpoint slides so I haven't had a chance to fully digest it all yet but my initial impression is that it is clear and concise.  I especially like the clarification on sideburns.  I knew that what everyone was putting out last week (top of the ear) was NOT in the original change so I was hoping for clarification.  This gives it, complete with pictures and diagrams.

Hopefully, this will end the speculation and confusion and allow leaders to train their Soldiers on 'what right looks like' before we begin full enforecement.

I noticed that I'm in a sticky situation. Hopefully there will be more clarification on the tattoo policy regarding enlisted soldiers requesting commission. I have a tattoo sleeve, but I've been in the Green to Gold program for the last two years. I receive my commission on May 1st. So am I no longer eligible for it and have to return to active enlisted status? I already have orders for bolc and my first duty station as a 2LT.

I have asked the same question, as I have several enlisted friends
in various stages of working towards their commission.  What I was told, is if you are already in the
process of earning your commission, you will be okay as long as you document it.  Now Again, that is what I have been told.

Here is what the Army Times said:

■ Applicants contracted for service in any Army component or enrolled in any accession program within 30 days of the release of the new AR 670-1 are grandfathered in to the previously published tattoo policy.

One of the more controversial topics that was proposed, I noticed isn't mentioned in the slidedeck. Clean shaven while off duty.
