"Train as though you are going to fight, you fight like you train." Do you still use this proverb?

I always trained with, "The best laid plans turn to shit at first contact." It always worked for me because it meant you had to do things over and over so even when things went south people knew their jobs and we were able to keep moving forward.

Train as you fight but then the Army would always throw a monkey wrench into the works when they deployed you and you didn't end up fighting as you trained.

I really want a new perspective on fighting insurgents.
