Can I send my family to HAAP before I leave for unaccompanied tour?

I received orders to Korea with an HAAP option for Ft Riley. My question is this: will my current unit allow me to help my family move to Ft Riley before I go to Korea?

Your unit had no day in this. It sounds like you haven't actually started your levy packet. You don't have to accept the HAAP, but if you do, one of the choices is that you can move your family to your new HAAP location and the government will pay for it. Another choice is that your family can move somewhere else, like to be with other family, at your expense, and then you could reenlist for a different location, or you could still accept the HAAP. The Army will pay you BAH for wherever your family is located

Thanks for the info SFC. As this is my first oconus assignment, I’m only assuming the haap is the duty station I’ll be going to after my rotation in Korea?

SGT (Join to see) no, HAAP is an offer, you can take it or reject it. If you reject it you can reenlist for a different location, or if you're not eligible to reenlist, you'll be placed on assignment while you're in Korea. That assignment won't necessarily be your HAAP, but it could be
