I’m currently going on a 9 month rotation in Korea starting in February next year. Our CSM wants to take everyone so I can’t stay back and TAP here. I have a ETS date Christmas Eve of that same year. Knowing my unit, they won’t let me leave Korea early to go finish SFL TAP at my duty station. I really want to apply for SFL TAP where I’m stationed at but I won’t be able to. So now my only option would be to go to Korea and TAP there. Feels like I’m in a sticky situation. I’m going to call the TAP at Korea but was just wondering if someone would know. Should I apply for TAP where I’m at (Ft Bliss) or just go to Korea?

You can't be on rotation and permissive TDY at the same time. You'll have to extend a year so you have enough time to complete TAP and enroll in a CSP

Have you spoke to your Chain of Command about this? You can’t just assume your Unit will force you to deploy, you have a valid reason to stay back at Bliss. Sometimes a Soldiers ETS date is overlooked due to the high optempo.

I would do the required TAP classes Korea and schedule the internship to start when you get back. This is why I encourage everyone to sign up at your 18 month mark so you have time to use all the programs available to you.
