I have seen a bunch of crowd funding campaigns recently. Sometimes I think they look like a good cause and sometimes it just looks like lazy people trying to get free money. What is your take on crowd funding? What is a good application? When is it abused?

I think it is an awesome idea and it allows more creativity than just relying on what one given industry wants to produce. I have not donated myself, but thats due to me being a scrooge.

A local brewery used it to fund a new canning line and offered rewards based on contribution levels to great success. Best part is its not a loan, so they don't have to pay it back with interest and it allows the customers and interested parties help them bring about new desired products faster.

If you want to avoid abuse, just mind what you are funding.

I've see it used successfully in the game industry a few times, and though there aren't any very solid instances yet, I'm looking forward to finding out how successful some of these games are. It's exciting because It's a way for the gamers to decide what games are made, instead of just hoping the big publishers deliver.

Very exciting stuff for us nerds.

There are over 500 platforms around the internet, with world wide contribution the potential is unlimited~ I found a great platform that is working for what I want to achieve! CrowdFunding is not a hand out or entitlement, there is work involved, unless you write up a sob story and some media outlet buys into givng you exposure 70% of people with projects never receive any money! One must also understand there are 3 catogories of crowdfunding, equity, reward and donation based!
