The Navy doesn't seem to embrace D-Day and their participation in it. I understand why we uphold the importance of Midway in the Navy, but we should be proud of the role we Sailors played in Operation Overlord.Response by PO1 Private RallyPoint Member made May 31 at 2014 11:36 AM2014-05-31T11:36:00-04:002014-05-31T11:36:00-04:00LT Stephen Amiaga140707<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Awesome, Gene!Response by LT Stephen Amiaga made Jun 1 at 2014 12:07 PM2014-06-01T12:07:44-04:002014-06-01T12:07:44-04:00SSG(P) Private RallyPoint Member141703<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I will be remembering the good times I had with my wife's grandfather, who recently passed away, and his service on that day. He was wounded in the initial landing at Omaha Beach with C 3/16IN, and lived to a ripe old age playing many rounds of cribbage with this young Soldier. I may also cruse the History Channel for some historic programming appropriate to teach my children how important the operation was.Response by SSG(P) Private RallyPoint Member made Jun 2 at 2014 3:45 PM2014-06-02T15:45:34-04:002014-06-02T15:45:34-04:00Cpl Private RallyPoint Member145177<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>MCPO, 1st off I am so grateful for these men and women ..swelling with pride (me) ..what I am going to do is reflect on their gallant service to our country and be thankful that I do not speak German, not that that is a bad thing, however I speak English and we are still called The United States Of America, tommorrow D Day + 1 I am volunteering as a staff member for a Mud run proceeds go to all kinds of originazitions , Wounded Warriors, Homeless Veterans just to name a few, further more every time I see Old Glory..I see the sacrifice it has taken ( For Those Who Fought For It, Freedom has the Flavor, The Protected Will Never Know) .Basically I will have my own moment of silence for those gallent men and women. Being TDY today, not much I can do as I'm waiting to return back to Kuwait. But I do think as a country, the schools should place a bit more emphasis on teaching proper history to our children.
