This June 6th marks the 70th Anniversary of D-Day. Are you planning on doing anything special to mark the day. Since it is not a national holiday do you do anything different to show your appreciation for the service people of all nations who took part in the Allied Victory of this landing?

Ever since I served on my first Gator, USS Cambria (APA-36) I have always found pictures of Soldiers and Marines in Boats preparing to hit the Beach and on the beach Inspiring. BTW, my primary assignment was as the radio tech on the Waveguide Commanders Boat. As the first boat leading the first wave in toward the beach, and the most exposed, our life expectancy was 5 seconds past the Line of Departure during WWII. (The LOD was 1000 yds from the beach.)

Thank you for sharing these amazing pictures of WWII, CPT Kletzing. I could only imagine how these brave men felt or experienced at that critical juncture at Normandy.
I also thank you, MCPO Treants, for your courageous service, as it is an honor to hear about your experience on that dreadful day. God bless you and your family.

I'll be stopping by the local WWII Memorial here in the city to lay some flowers in memory of those that are still over there.

MCPO, 1st off I am so grateful for these men and women ..swelling with pride (me) ..what I am going to do is reflect on their gallant service to our country and be thankful that I do not speak German, not that that is a bad thing, however I speak English and we are still called The United States Of America, tommorrow D Day + 1 I am volunteering as a staff member for a Mud run proceeds go to all kinds of originazitions , Wounded Warriors, Homeless Veterans just to name a few, further more every time I see Old Glory..I see the sacrifice it has taken ( For Those Who Fought For It, Freedom has the Flavor, The Protected Will Never Know) .Basically I will have my own moment of silence for those gallent men and women. Thank You for The opportunity to chime in on this thread.
