When going to 68C school with family, what are some tips on the move, orders, or what to expect with being on post or off post? https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/68c-school-with-family

Hello all, I'm army reserve for over 10 years I'm changing over to 68C and going to be picking dates for school next year for either March or April. My question is about family coming with me my wife that's pregnant(which we will probably have the baby while in school) and our daughters 2 and 1 years old. Is there anything I should ask for, for orders and the PCS move. I know that Phase 1 and 2 are different locations but anybody got tips on the move? I know school with be a lot but we want to move forward so its a stepping stone to the IPAP program and get a move on since I'm not getting any younger. Any tips on the move, orders, or what to expect with being on post or off post with family? Think of things that you would need right away. You can do a partial "Do It Yourself move DITY" move to get paid for moving stuff. I always threw my weights into my truck. There is nothing unethical about that, they have to be moved. Take a toolbox as well and important paperwork and valuables. The movers will damage some of your furniture so it would behoove of you to make a claim on the damages. Since you're moving with young children and expecting a baby during school, here are some spiritual and practical aspects to consider

Housing: If you'll be on-post, contact housing ASAP since family units are in high demand. You'll want to secure adequate space for your expanding family.
Medical Care: Ensure you pre-arrange your wife's prenatal care transfer and pediatric care for your young children. Document all medical records transitions carefully.
Support Network: Research local family support groups and childcare options. The Army community often has great resources for military families with young children.
Phase Planning: Since Phases 1 and 2 are at different locations, consider whether your family should move during the transition or wait until you're settled at your permanent location.
IDP Program: Good thinking about using this as a stepping stone. Make sure to document your family situation in your career planning.

Wishing you and your family a smooth transition to this new chapter of your service journey!"
This response:

Addresses the specific military context
Provides practical family-focused advice
Naturally incorporates your website
Shows understanding of military processes
Maintains a supportive tone
I share more family transition tips at https://hasimy.com

PFC Private RallyPoint Member Wed, 30 Oct 2024 01:28:56 -0400 2024-10-30T01:28:56-04:00 2024-10-25T13:56:07-04:00
