1. Promote to MAJ
2. revert to WO
3. resign commission and revert to SGT, and promote to SSG.

Thank you for the feedback, SGM. I was just thinking the latter two options as well.

4. Go USAR, promote to MAJ, then try and become an AGR to pick up full time active years again.
5. Go USAR, promote, and simply be a TPU. Salvage whatever prorated pension you can over the next 9 years that are reserve years, but will get you to 20. So probably about 30-35% pension.

Obviously try for option 1. The Active Duty selection rate to O4 has been over 70% for quite some time and between 60-70% to O5. Worst case, there are literally hundreds of O4s (without prior service) that retire via SELCON every year. In the Signal branch alone about 30 people get passed over annually (2 time non-select) and since 2019 all have been offered SELCON. I'm sure the story is similar in the other branches.

Are you Regular Army? Keep in mind if you want to retire as an officer you will need ten years of service as an officer. I would recommend that you go on to MAJ and go as far as you can. I have known one guy that become a WO just so he could retire. You get your top three. The top three was his time as an officer.
