I am looking for information on if someone could be discharged for it and curious if anyone has been or could be medically discharged for a "Perforated Eardrum?"

You'll have to be more specific about why. Sure, someone "could" be separated for that, or shin splints, or being gay, or sleepwalking or any other number of things. What is the underlying problem you're trying to solve?

Thank you for taking the time to reply sir. I am considering going to the board to appeal my discharge. I had two Perforated eardrum during Navy boot camp and I have documentation to prove it. They refused to hold me over and forced me to train. I showed up to medical and they forced me to REU instead and I told the psychologist I was crying because of ear pain and being almost entirely deaf.
If they don't discharge people for this kind of thing then it feels like there would be no way to upgrade my discharge.
Background:
I am trying to get back into service and have 3 good psychological evaluations at $2000 a pop and MEPS keeps disapproving my waiver for the Army. I got discharged for an adjustment disorder with anxiety... I wasn't able to even walk when I showed up to REU and definitely had conversations beforehand with the chaplain about my ears and how I couldn't train due to them. Thank you so much for reading this sir.

If your MOS physical requirements do not require a 1 in the H of the PULHES; then, you could remain on Active Duty. At least that’s what the determining factors were when I was in the Army. I had a P3 profile in the L; however, I was ADMIN and I stayed in until I requested a Medical Discharge

My rate in the Navy did require a 1 and they discharged me, not for my ears though. Hmmm

PFC (Join to see) if you were medically discharged, you should have received some type of rating. If you would like to discuss this with me, please ‘connect’ with me or send me an email: [login to see]

I knew a guy who complained about it long enough to get discharged, yeah. Can’t say any of us respected him for it though. Most doctors will tell you that it can heal with time, as mine did. Perforations are less serious than other ear related injuries from what I understand. The real issue here appears to be looking for a reason to quit. There’s no happiness at the end of that road.

Being deaf isn't looking for a reason to quit when a medical officer lies to you and says you don't have a perforated eardrum after other doctors have diagnosed you. I was sent to REU in a non-walking state because of dizziness. I was hoping to be held over because I also had two double ear infections. I couldn't ear instruction or cadence. The psychologist was told only medical stuff going on with me from myself and he gave me the out based on that. I want to be in the service and I would have stayed.

Yeah that’s just looking for a reason to quit with extra details. Literally every Infantry soldier who’s seen combat has had all of those symptoms at some point. Sob stories aren’t going to make me feel bad for you.

SGT Benjamin Parsons I never asked for sympathy. I was in the Navy at boot camp learning to become a sailor, not Army infantry. It was just a simple question. Feel how you feel it doesn't bother me one bit. Thanks for telling me you had a buddy though.
