Let me think the military is over 200 years old and we still can't come up with appropriate standards.
My pull-up skills came in very handy while deployed I don't think I could have survived without them. How many times have we tried to reinvent the APFT?
Until we can effectively write a standard there will be this issue. The only courses we have currently available are to keep the pull up standards and severely restrict or discriminate against women, or lower the body fat percentage across the board to 36% (Army highest allowable percentage per age and gender)
Until we come up with MOS based PT tests there won't be any good solutions.
